DUNDALK MOTORCYCLE RACES 2006

It is with regret that Louth Motor Cycle Racing Club Ltd announces that their 2006 roadraces have been cancelled. After threats of High Court action and much delay the club felt that with only 22days to organise the event and with such huge expense involved it was better to forget about this year and concentrate on 2007.

Communication was received from Louth County Council on Thursday 10th August that they would be granting a road closing order subject to certain conditions, conditions with which the club had no difficulty. However, the owner of Darver had sought an adjournment to the High Court action until August 23rd, which is just over a week before the races.

The club wishes to express its heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the many messages of support from all over Ireland and from Britain. We know the disappointment that many people will feel at the loss of an event, which drew spectators from all parts and the competitors who so enjoyed themselves.

To our sponsors, advertisers, people who provide services to the races, Louth County Council, the Garda, the Mc Guinness family who have been a great support to the club we thank you sincerely.

Support from the governing body of motorcycling has been conspicuous by its absence!

We wish Darver Castle good luck with their wedding and hope they make plenty of money.

Ray Douglas

Chairman LMCRC Ltd.

Thursday 10th August.
